Can I make it to spring break?

The time change did a number on all of us. No on wants to get up, do work or cooperate with anyone else!
We're struggling to get as much done this week as we can. Trying to keep the kids on task and trying to keep myself on task are easier said than done! The kids are working hard, just losing focus and concentration. This week we've done a little lapbooking, lots of reading and utilized some educational online games to keep things going. Two more days. Just two more days.

This weekend I'm looking forward to a baby shower the ladies at church are giving me. I feel so blessed, since this is our third to be even given a shower seems special. I really was in need, though as we hadn't kept any baby stuff. God has provided amazingly. We've spent less than $300 to have the nursery ready, complete with furniture, baby bedding and even a couple of packs of diapers! The small incidentals i'm sure will be provided through the shower, since my church family is more than generous. And I'll get to oo and ah over cute tiny clothes!

Next week the cousins will be here for mayhem and fun. The kids can't wait. I can't either, my sister-in-laws girls are so fun to hang out with. I love being an aunt! Poor Charlie is still the only boy, for a few more weeks anyway. He somehow manages to have fun with all those girls, somehow!

Oh so different

I am realizing how difficult the idea of homeschooling through the summer is, when everyone else is taking advantage of long summer days to play. It is easy to schedule lots of fun things and neglect schooling plans. My feelings on this are mixed; on one hand I feel like we're not doing justice to schooling, on the other hand I think time with friends and family is so important.
There have been fun days every week this summer that have interrupted our schedule, but there have also been teachable moments on fun days. Striking a balance seems a worthy goal.

I overheard this conversation between 'Missy' and 'Dinohunter' at the end of one of those days that interrupted our schedule:
"Mom, when are we gonna do homeschool today?" Missy is always eager to sit and write and color.
"We do homeschool every day," Dinohunter replied, and went on to remind her of how we talked about fractions before digging into a pie we made together.

Maybe a relaxed approach is okay, as long as I find the balance of due diligence!
